THE CINEMATIC STORIES WORKSHOP, led by Miguel Clara Vasconcelos, draws on his training and professional experience as a lecturer, screenwriter, director and film producer spanning more than 20 years. A visiting lecturer at Universidade Nova de Lisboa for several years, Miguel Clara has worked with over a hundred students in the field of screenwriting, refining the methodology he now offers through his Short Film, Feature Film and Television Series Development Courses.
One of the distinctive features of this course is that participants learn and/or develop the skills required for professional screenwriting by working on their own projects.
The course is aimed at people aged 16 and over, including students of film, audiovisual studies and related fields; creative professionals such as writers, directors, journalists, filmmakers, actors and designers; or anyone wishing to develop their screenwriting skills whilst working on their own project.
On each course, participants will have the opportunity to delve deeper into narrative structure, bring characters to life, and explore the setting and timeline of the story, resulting in a script that is largely finalised and ready to be submitted to screenplay competitions, for production support, to the film industry, or even to a film crew.
The workshops take place in person in Lisbon, as well as online. Participants may submit projects in any language. The sessions will be conducted in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
The schedule and number of sessions vary depending on the course chosen. You can view it HERE.
